In this set of articles we are going to discuss the basic methods of promoting your site on the Internet.
There are several points that have to be emphasized:
– Writing text for the pages. Important rules that help to raise the page rank.
– Basic recommendations and examples of how to use “meta” tags.
– Links to your store located at other Internet resources. How links affect your site.
– Promoting your site in blogs, forums and social networks.
– Several recommendations on how to ensure indexing of your site.
Let’s discuss the first item on this list – how to write the text that is displayed on your pages. Search engines value sites containing information. Generally, you should seek to increase the text value on your pages. SEO rich content ensures that a website is easily found in the Internet.
Below there is useful advice to help you create your text.
- Write a human adapted text. Avactis has special tools that allow you to optimize your pages. Use the built-in editor that has a lot of options to make your text looks great.
-
The text value on the page.
The optimal number of words in the text should be between 300 and 2,000. A page containing only a few sentences has a smaller chance of reaching the top of the search results. In addition, a lot of text on the page makes the page more visible due to unusual or accidental search phrases. This may attract additional visitors to your site.
3. Keywords density.
Keywords or key phrases should be used at least 3 or 4 times in the text on the page.
Pay particular attention to complete search phrases. We can get the best results if the entire phrase is inserted in the text. In other words, you should insert the keywords in a certain order and repeat them several times in the text. In addition, add the words from the phrase separately.
SEO rich content should have a keyword density of 0.5%-5%.
How do you calculate keyword density? For example, we sell recovery shirts and are trying to optimize our product-list.php page for the phrase “recovery shirt.” Let’s suppose that our text contains 300 words. The main phrase – “recovery shirt” – is found in the text 6 times, moreover the separate words – “recovery” and “shirt” – are found about 7 times.
So, keyword density = (6/300) of 100% = 2%
Excellent result!
The numbers in the example are not the absolutely perfect ones; they only show the general idea.
If you add a category description containing the phrase and add a short description where one of these words is mentioned about your products, you can reach a good result in topping up your page (even if you don’t use the short description, you probably can add keywords to the product names).
But be aware! A too high density of keywords may turn on spam filters!
So you should find a balance between keyword density and text that will actually make someone want to buy your products.
- Include keyword synonyms. People often type something different than the exact keyword in the search field. They use word variants.
- Use customer reviews. This will help you add original text to your pages and you won’t be spending a lot of time writing the text. It is strongly recommended that you check all reviews for approval before publishing them!
- Use proofreading and spell checking. It will clean up possible mistakes in the text. Even if it doesn’t matter for search engines, for your buyers, it does matter.
Next time I will tell you about meta tags and their usage.
